Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers play a central role in the Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure®. Each year we look to the community for volunteers to fill the needs of our ever changing and expanding race. The Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure® needs people who are willing to donate talent, time and positive energy throughout the year to assist in keeping our race successful.

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of the event. Their passionate commitment is what makes our race successful. Volunteering for this event is a marvelous opportunity to further the mission of the Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure® to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease.

Volunteers are needed in many areas and in many types of jobs. Some of these include:

• Race Steering Committee
• Race Preparation
• Race Week & Race Day
• Other Affiliate Events

Steering Committee: Throughout the year the Steering Committee works diligently to organize the event. Countless hours of planning are spent to insure all areas of the race run as smoothly as possible. Race Preparation: Volunteers are occasionally needed to work prior to the race performing general office work to help prepare for the race such as stuffing envelopes, filing and making phone calls. Other types of jobs might include race application distribution or working at other events in the area distributing educational materials.

Race Week & Race Day: Volunteers are needed to perform many tasks during the week of race and race day. Jobs include Community/Corporate Team Bag Assembly, Chip Stuffing, Packet Pick-up, Race Set-up, Late Registration, Merchandise Sales, Isabel Bloom/Raffle Sales, T-Shirt Table, Survivor Table and many more.

Other Affiliate Events: There are many events throughout the year that we need volunteers to perform numerous different jobs. Some of these events are the Survivor Breakfast, Lifestyles Fair, BMW Ultimate Drive™ and Ride for the Cure®.

Our volunteers are very important to the success of not only Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure® but to our affiliate. Year after year our high quality volunteers provide us with their expertise, which enables our race to be one of the best organized races in the Quad Cities. If you are interested in volunteering for Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure®, the volunteer form and volunteer release form can be downloaded and mailed to the address on the volunteer form.
