Nominees Sought for 2010 Honorary Survivor Chair
Nominees are now being accepted for Honorary Survivor Chair of the 21st Annual Susan G. Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cureâ. This honor will be awarded to a participating supporter of the event and a survivor of breast cancer, the nation’s 2nd leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women.

Seeking More Team Participation in the Fight Against Breast Cancer
In effort to boost participation numbers and raise more money for mammograms for the underserved and underinsured, The Susan G. Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure® is working to recruit teams of ten or more individuals to form a team and sign up for the 20th annual event.

Peggy Newkirk Named as Honorary Survivor Chair for 20th Annual Race
The breast cancer diagnosis of a Quad-City medical professional truly underscores the importance of a yearly mammogram. Nurse practitioner Peggy Newkirk, 61, of Rock Island, performs regular breast exams. She felt nothing strange, but her yearly exam in February of 2006 led to an alarming diagnosis—stage 3 A breast cancer.
