Kids for the Cure®

The Race committee felt that these children needed an opportunity to express their feelings and be a part of the fight again breast cancer. One of the reasons Kids for the Cure was created was to provide children with an active, visible expression of community support. By running or walking in the Komen Race for the Cure events, they are taking an active role and helping to find a cure for breast cancer.

We are pleased to announce the 1st annual Kids for the Cure to coincide with the 2008 Race for the Cure in the Quad Cities. Kids can sign up on the general race participation application. They will receive a “kids” t-shirt and be permitted in the “kid zone.” All registrants ages 12 and under will be able to particiapte in Kids for the Cure® activities before and after the Race. A fun jump, slide, crafts, refreshments, and more are planned. All children must be accompanies by an adult.

Kids for the Cure was created in 1998 at the Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure®. This Affiliate realized that children were being affected by breast cancer. The youngsters had mothers, aunts, grandmothers, teachers, and others in their lives that were affected.
